A Short Update

Randy Moss goes to the Raiders. I can't think of a better team for him.

Hunter killed himself; part of me questions why and part of me is not surprised.

I am listening to the new Crooked Fingers and it's really good.

Some friends of mine designed a clothing line in NYC that is blowing up. That is so cool.

Better update/information later, I promise.

Lyrical Lucidity

Anyone who likes music for the lyrics is going to like this.

As with many of the board sites, however, it can result in a "flamethrower" disintegrating the thread into a playground name-calling contest. I didn't see too much of that here. Here there are people who impart their knowledge based on scouring interviews, writing to the band, obsessing, etc. If nothing else, it's just interesting to see what others out there think about that song you are SURE is about the singer's drug habit...

I immediately went for a band with some very enigmatic song titles and lyrics. I was enlightened.

"Cupid's there, quiver reversed, bow broken,
Holding a burnt-out torch.
See how sadly he walks, poor child, wings drooping,
How he beats at his bared breast,
How the tears rain down on his hair, now lying all tangled
About his throat, and his mouth's a loud O of grief.
Thus he looked, they say, long ago, when he saw his
Brother Aeneas to the grave..."

Audio- Scrobbler?

OK, I didn't create the awkward name but I am liking this program. It records whatever you listen to on the computer, and others are able to view it and listen to it if they wish. It is developed in the UK, and there are a few bugs for US users, but still very interesting. You can see me at this link...

By the way, sorry for missing Reco's - honestly, I didn't have that much. If you get accustomed to checking the scrobbler, I probably don't need to do that anymore.

Cinerama

Gina Lollobrigida is an actress mostly known for her films of the 1950s and 1960s. She is also a highly accomplished photographer. The film industry has many many actresses but none of them have ever matched the beauty and glamour as Gina. She is unmatched in the visuals arts with only one other, Connie Francis, a singer who is just as beautiful, classy, and Italian.

A description of Gina from an item on ebay.com: “The name Gina Lollobrigida=Italian Goddess. Of all the beauties to come out of Italy, Gina stands alone in a class all her own. The huge almond eyes, framed by eyebrows shaped like the wings of a raven, the flaring nostrils, those full sensual lips, plump, silky, red like rose petals and the hourglass body so outrageously formed that men would go wild at the sight of her. Yup, this Italiana had it all.”

--I didn't know much about this actress before. I did find out some really interesting things about her tonight.

Insomnia

Agreed, it is a little late for me to be awake, let alone on the computer. Thoughts of what the future holds, where the present is, and what the past has led up to has been occupying me- I am nocturnal by nature.

Goodbye "Fat Tuesday".

Finally...

Got an iPod. It was a gift from my employer, very cool. He even knew I would want the black one. I know it is supposed to be the U2 edition but I don't even like U2. Its colors represent another band, if you know the band I don't even have to mention it, but if you squint at the display in the picture you might be able to tell.

Song Reco's for the Week

Again, I must stress that these can be new or old. It's just what I have been listening to.

Pitty Sing "We're on Drugs" (single)
Ada "Our Love Will Never Die" (single)
Postal Service "Be Still My Heart" (b side)
Bloc Party "Helicopter" (single)
LCD Soundsystem "Tribulations" (single)
Nada Surf "Amateur"(single)

Kinda light this week, not much out there.

Goodbye IE...

Hello Firefox. After some prodding from friends and a favorable article in Wired, I made the switch. Let me just say that I am more than pleased. I had no idea how archaic IE actually is. Everything is faster and the interface is clean. There are a few nuances, but if you are fairly well-versed in computers they will be little more than amusements. Make the switch!
