look at me
am i still the one you wanted me to be
when we were talking did i hear you say
that you still love me
what if you could do it all again
would you still look right through me then
what if you could make another life
would you still have me by your side
look at me
everything was clear i wanted you to see
but don't answer with a word
only your eyes
"maybelle"

intrigue

I have been hearing about this documentary for some time. I put LaChapelle in the same category as Spike Jonze, as far as unique, original interest in pop culture and art goes. "Krumping"? Missed that one. Leave a comment if you've seen it.

interpol "direction"

Heard the "exclusive new" track from interpol today. It is on the Six Feet Under soundtrack. I was VERY disappointed. I guess I should have suspected that exclusive means throwaway, but I hoped I was wrong. The song is mostly instrumental; yet undeniably interpol- what is actually sung repeats the song's title a few times- no other lyrics.

Guess we have to wait for another b-side or live track...

"we do not see things as they are. we see things as we are."--Nin

Going to be away for a few days, have some domestic issues to deal with. Until then, I leave you with some questions/thoughts the world(in my eyes) is pondering:

- Did she really sign a 5-year contract? What happened in those missing days? Isn't this Scientology thing getting a bit too eerie for everyone?

- Will the Pumpkins reunite? Or is it just a way-too-obvious marketing ploy by Mr. Corgan?

- DCFC/Decemberists at camp...

- New album from DM in August, tour next year...(they will be playing in Miami before the year's end- ! you-know-who, i will bet it is October 29 or somewhere near that)

- So he's free. Can he really resurrect his career? Should he even try?

- Is it me, or is it not hilarious that a moment of reality smacked this guy in the face?

- The case is in court, but it can't bring him back.

- The Strokes are pretty excited about their latest, due in January...

- Bernard Butler (Suede) has finally conceded that Brett Anderson (the other part of Suede) is the man.

-Pink Floyd reunite for Live 8. Do I smell reunion tour?

See you in a few days.

blog entry by my friend martin (the Manc)

"A comment was made to me last week that irritated me. I was in a conversation about the world and I am lucky that I have seen many parts of it and although in reality I know nothing about life I do have a better general feel of dealing with cultural differences. The comment made by this person was "They hate us over there so I wouldn't want to go!". What got me was that we were not talking about Iraq or some other place we are trying to destroy and rebuild for oil and wealth- I mean the rest of the world ... then in a moment of clarity I asked this person if they have ever set foot outside of America, "No" was the reply.... OK that wasn't what threw me.... I started to ask more people that I have met if they have ever left the country, out of the 50 or so people I asked only 10 had ever left and that was to Mexico or Canada only one had set foot off this continent........ Statistically, only ?% of this country has a valid passport but the majority are from immigrant backgrounds.
Now there is an unfortunate truth in the statement about negativity towards Americans in other countries and I understand the fundamentals. Basically, when only a few represent the millions and quite often, when it comes to international travel, only "elitists" can afford to roam around the world, they pass a bad view of what this country is like. So the basis of their judgement is from the few pricks that are loud and idiotic then backed up with the ridiculous media that we are programmed with and they see a bunch of morons..... It's not fair..... This country is the most amazing place; its a shame that the land of free speech allows such idiots to lead us and represent our image.
To those that dont know me I am British, I moved here 14yrs ago, and I am an American Citizen, by choice and sacrifice...........so fuck you if you think I am dissing the Yanks- I am a Yank with a hardcore Manchester attitude.
I propose a solution ........... GET A PASS PORT - GO TRAVEL - YOU CAN BE THE NEW AMBASSADORS and let the world know that we aren't just big and loud, and that our pride comes from our survival instincts and pure willpower. This is a tough place, 1500 get killed in wars but 11,000 get killed by ourselves- we are not the people that CNN shows, we are cool as fuck and if more of us displayed that then maybe we can change the world's view on us........"

burning the candle at both ends

I haven't had the joy of dual employment in a long time. It is taxing, to say the least. I am trying to keep up with everyone but it is not that easy. My situation is improving and there is a horizon I am happy to say. I estimate complete restoration to take- -well, let me not speculate on that. Hopefully, it will be soon. It's not so bad working this much for now because it keeps me productive and my mind occupied. I am missing certain things; but I guess I was destined to lose them and the work helps me keep from dwelling.

9 Songs >viewed<

It was entirely more erotic(and explicit) than even I expected. And it mirrored what I expect to be my ideal relationship. Shot in an intimate point-of-view, and not annoying like Center of the World was (yes I know that was digital).

My version was in Spanish, with no subtitles, and as that was the only rip I could obtain at the moment, I couldn't pick up on any possible underlying themes. There is not much dialogue though so it was still watchable. Basically a movie about lovers, sex, and music.
My favorite trio.

The 9 Songs-

1. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club- Whatever Happened to Rock n' Roll
2. Von Bondies- C'mon C'mon
3. Elbow- Fallen Angel
4. Franz Ferdinand- Michael
5. Primal Scream- Movin' On Up
6. Dandy Warhols- You Were the Last High
7. Super Furry Animals- Slow Life
8. Franz Ferdinand- Jacqueline
9. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club- Love Burns

the Dark Side...

I know I am way behind the curve when it comes to critiquing Star Wars III- Revenge of the Sith. I am just not a big fan of this kind of sci-fi, especially when it is as over-blown as this and not as clever.

However, I just got a rip of it on DVD, watched it, and felt the need to comment (because I can!). It was a work print- and the time code thing bothered me- but not too much, since I didn't pay for this illegal copy.

It was good- dramatic, like they have all been. Entertaining enough, but not my thing. If I had paid to watch it I might be a little more negative. There's my two cents.

If we have finally seen the last of this series I am content.

Retrospection

I stumbled across this book today. I remembered reading it as a child; fascinated (and horrified) at the thought of kids dying and loved the gothic illustrations. Maybe it was a harbinger- those of you who know my interests or read this blog regularly know what I mean.

I agree it is morbid; but Edward Gorey had a great sardonic wit, not to mention great illustrations.

The Heat cool off...

Detroit 88, Miami 82. We played good; better than even I expected. Poor shooting and rebounds cost us, though. Still, I am proud of our team. They went further than anyone expected them to. Cheers!

(I hope San Antonio kills 'em!)
