"Well if the birds can reach the skyTo this land I'll be with you'Til the sun bursts from your sideWith my hands I reach to youWhen you think your chance is passing byWhen you blow your moon awayI'll bleed like the reedFall with your knifeIt's here I'll be with you."~p. murphy~

9 Songs
This movie slipped under my radar but my other half caught it. It is apparently about a couple who goes to concerts and has sex in the interim. Sounds perfect, huh?
You can see the trailer here.
Here is a review excerpt (movie-gazette):
"So '9 Songs' is a contemplative, melancholic piece about memory, longing and loneliness, and in this respect it is not unlike Michael Winterbottom's other film from the same year, the dystopian sci-fi 'Code 46'. Yet it is the sex scenes, a pervasive and graphic element in '9 Songs', which are destined to raise an eyebrow - if not much else - amidst the chattering classes."
It's Got: Live concert footage of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, the Von Bondies, Elbow, Primal Scream, the Dandy Warhols, Super Furry Animals, Franz Ferdinand and Michael Nyman; believable performances; an intelligent, frank and unsensationalised attitude to sex; a pervasive mood of melancholy.
It Needs: To be avoided by anyone sensitive to explicit scenes of sex - but also by anyone looking for pornographic kicks.

Sold Out...
Saw Interpol for the 4th time tonight. As usual, they were well-polished and their rhythm and timing was impeccable. They played a balanced set of Bright Lights and Antics songs, beginning with "Next Exit" and ending with "Roland".
The place was packed to capacity and unfortunately, due to Spring Break, it attracted some of the college guys in town to show up and drink, wear their hats backwards, and high-five each other as they saw good-looking women. The show was only secondary to their pursuits.
My first Interpol show seeing people two-fisting beers. (Yes, I am saying they are not just the fans' band anymore.)
The set seemed entirely too brief for me, but I am prejudiced, I guess. How long can a band play on two albums?
I would have liked to see them do "Song Seven" or "Precipitate", the only two I have never seen them perform live.
Ultimately, I got to re-live a lot of special moments during their set so I had a good time.

Songs I am listening to...
OK, I haven't done this in a while, and those of you "scrobbling" me don't even need to read this, but for the rest, here you go:
Keane vs. DJ Shadow "We Might as Well Be Strange" Pony Up "shutupandkissme" Interpol "Song Seven" Thievery Corporation "Warning Shots" Crooked Fingers "Call to Love" Postal Service "Be Still My Heart" New Order "Waiting for the Sirens' Call" Dirty on Purpose "MindBlindness" Red Letter Agent "Under Starlight" Slowreader "Every Part of Nothing" Modest Mouse "Edit the Sad Parts" Decemberists "The Engine Driver" Belle & Sebastian "Your Cover's Blown"
Find them, you'll like them!

Coming up beyond belief On this coronary thief More than just a leitmotif More chaotic, no relief I'll describe the way I feel Weeping wounds that never heal Can the savior be for real Or are you just my seventh seal?
No hesitation, no delay You come on just like special K Just like I swallowed half my stash I never ever want to crash No hesitation, no delay You come on just like special K Now you're back with dope demand I'm on sinking sand Gravity No escaping gravity Gravity No escaping... not for free I fall down... hit the ground Make a heavy sound Every time you seem to come around
I'll describe the way I feel You're my new Achilles heel Can this savior be for real Or are you just my seventh seal?

No escaping gravity No escaping gravity No escaping gravity No escaping gravity

"remember those Hill Street Blues..."
Does anyone know who does this song? It is an electronic song, I heard it on Nu Skool Breaks.
