dcfc- plans
Finally got a hold of the advance of the eagerly-anticipated major label debut of the new Death Cab For Cutie. So far, it seems they have stayed true to form, with their typical blend of frost-bitten yet strangely warm melodies and endearing lyrics. It seems that whereas Transatlanticism was about hope and longing, Plans is about growing old together (What Sarah "Said" ('Love is Watching Someone Die'), I Will Follow You Into the Dark, Soul Meets Body). It is so good to see a band follow their path and not be 'persuaded' to change according to hit-making philosophies.
I think fans of this band will be satisifed yet again, although I think Transatlanticism still has the edge.
I am just going through it for the first time, so my judgement is early and may change, but I feel guilty for not posting a single word here in over a week. More on that later...
